Great day today in the Old City - even in the rain - off and on - a mixture of sunshine followed by rain drops. We walked the Via Dolorosa from the Antonia Fortress to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre through the Christian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, and the Armenian Quarter. The shops in the Christian Quarter were opening where it's possible to buy everything from scarves to pots and pans to fresh chicken or meat (hanging in the butcher shops). After lunch we rode to Bethany and the tomb of Lazarus before returning to the Garden Tomb where we had communion.
Visiting both possible sites where Jesus was crucified adds another layer of meaning to the Jerusalem experience.
Tonight we are preparing to leave Jerusalem tomorrow to drive north - visiting Caesarea by the Sea, Megiddo, and Nazareth before spending the night in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. This will probably be my last post until we return home since WiFi is not always available. It is difficult to believe that our pilgrimage is almost at an end. Please continue to pray for us as we have 2 more days of touring before we leave on Tuesday.
